Milano loses Finley at worst moment
Armani Jeans Milano has got the worst news possible two days before its do-or-die regular season finale in Group D on Wednesday: point guard Morris Finley - the team's most relied-upon player in Euroleague play this season - will miss the game and be sidelined two months with a sprained right calf muscle. Finley (180, 28), suffered the injury in an Italian League game on Sunday. A full-time starter since joining Milano over the summer, Finley is Milano's leader in minutes, scoring, assists and steals in the Euroleague this season He averaged 12.4 points, 2.2 assists and 1.7 steals over 33 minutes during the first nine games. With Finley joining another guard, Alex Acker, on the injured list, Milano has just veterans Massimo Bulleri and Marco Mordente, plus 16-year-old Giacomo Cacace on the roster. The club is thought to be looking for an emergency signing to help for Wednesday's home game against already-qualified Real Madrid. In order to advance to the Top 16, Milano must either win on Wednesday or hope that Asseco Prokom Gdynia loses at home against Khimki Moscow Region. Milano and Prokom are tied with 3-6 records and each beat the other, but Milano owns the head-to-head tie-break advantage between them for having had the higher margin in its victory. |
