Kostas Papanikolau: 'I will stay at least one more season in Europe'

Il giocatore greco non ha fretta di andare in NBA

Kostas Papanikolau in an interview to Eurohoops said that he will stay at least one more year in Europe before trying to go the NBA. The young Greek has a contract with Olympiacos till 2014 with a NBA buyout from 2013.

“The possibility of playing in the NBA is more than interesting to me and I think that I should test my skills in the USA. This is something that I owe to myself, but I am not in any kind of hurry! My agents and many NBA scouts that have approached me, believe that I will be benefited in every level by staying for the present in Europe. That’s my opinion too. I am not a specialist in anything, my game is still developing and I know that if I remain in Olympiacos under coach Ivkovic, I will become a much better player. I will see which team will pick me, I will stay at least one more season in Europe and then I will think about the possibility of going to the NBA”, says Papanikolaou to Eurohoops.

Sinceramente credo che in Europa possa essere devastante nei prossimi anni. Ma in NBA secondo me non potrà mai fare molto bene. D'altronde non hanno fatto benissimo giocatori come Navarro e Spanoulis, quindi neanche lui secondo me. Però in Europa può essere davvero fenomenale (già adesso non scherza.. )

Le sue quotazioni sono lievitate dopo che il ragazzo ha scelto la finale di Eurolega per giocare la propria miglior partita in carriera; ma di un anno in Europa (forse pure due) ne ha bisogno come il pane. Giocatori come Spanoulis o Jasikevicius si son rotti le corna in NBA pur partendo da un talento molto piu' elevato di quello del giovane Kostas.
